If you are looking forward to experiencing a slice of Heaven, here are some things you should know about the Seychelles:

Safe Haven for Animals

As one of the few places on Earth where Aldabre tortoises and Hawkbill turtles feel safe and unthreatened, Seychelles is home to these beautiful creatures.

These once-endangered animals are making their comeback to the Seychelles:

  • The Magpie Robins are once more flying high, with more than 100 birds making their home in Seychelles. Who would have believed that their numbers were down to only 14 birds in the world? Other feathered species include the Seychelles White Eye, Seychelles Warbler and the Sky-Blue Pigeon - these are also beginning to increase in number!
  • The giant millipedes consume a third of the fallen vegetation on the island – and it’s no wonder to see them work with all those legs!
  • The 2,200 giant Aldabra tortoises are a real joy - tourists can interact with them!

Bonus sighting: You might even meet Disco Harry, the giant tortoise who loves to lie in the middle of the road… just because he can!

The Granite and Corals

The expanse of the granitic and coral islands provides the most surreal rock formations, lavish forests and Creole heritage. As if these wonders weren’t enough to lure you in, the Seychelles also enjoys the world’s best beaches and cerulean seas – perfect for endless photo opportunities and many a cherished memory!

Local Vegetation

Most of the island’s vegetation remains wild which allows for the overall natural preservation of the Seychelles. With a regal crown all year round, the Takamaka trees display decorative leaves and fragrant flowers.

Touted as being one of the most beautiful Seychelles trees of all, the VERY rare Wright’s Gardenia freely blooms around these parts - showcasing white flowers with deep red speckles.

Trekking Trails

Where the scent of cinnamon, ylang-ylang and lemon grass permeate the air, get lost in a myriad of trekking trails that cross Mahé – that’s what Heaven smells like!
